#1 Pretérito Perfecto Simple belongs to the simple tenses group, which means that all of the conjugated forms are one word long. There are also compound (compuesto) tenses in the Spanish language, where each conjugated form consists of two words.
#2 The verb sentir has an irregular conjugation in the Pretérito Perfecto Simple tense of the Indicativo mood.
#3 The first person singular has a regular stem. So we need to use sent- as the basis for this form.
#4 Add the regular ending for this person to get sentí:
  • yo sentí
#5 And similarly the second person singular has a regular stem. So you need to use sent- as the basis for this person’s form.
#6 And again add the regular ending -iste for this person to get sentiste:
  • tú sentiste
#7 The third person singular has an irregular stem in this tense.

This verb belongs to the group which gets a mix of changes, both e to ie (in Presente Indicativo, persons 1, 2, 3 singular and 3 plural) and e to i (in Pretérito Perfecto Simple, persons 1 singular and 3 plural).

So in the regular stem sent change e to i to get sint:
  • él sint
  • ella sint
  • usted sint
#8 But at least the ending is regular for this person. It is -ió as normally in the -ir verb group
#9 And the first person plural has a regular stem. So we need to use sent- at the beginning of this form.
#10 And once more add the regular ending -imos for this person to get sentimos:
  • nosotros sentimos
  • nosotras sentimos
#11 And the second person plural has a regular stem. So we need to use sent- at the beginning of this form.
#12 Like in the previous case add the regular ending -isteis for this person to get sentisteis:
  • vosotros sentisteis
  • vosotras sentisteis
#13 The third person plural also has an irregular stem in this tense.

So as explained before we need to change e to i in the regular stem sent to get sint:
  • ellos sint
  • ellas sint
  • ustedes sint
#14 And the ending is regular for this person. It is -ieron as normally in the -ir verb group
#15 Success! The conjugation is now complete!
