In this lesson we will learn how to conjugate the verb decir in the Futuro tense of the Indicativo mood. It means we will see step by step how to get the following conjugation:

yodiré
dirás
él/ella/usteddirá
nosotros/nosotrasdiremos
vosotros/vosotrasdiréis
ellos/ellas/ustedesdirán

Step by step instructions

Futuro belongs to the simple tenses group, which means that all of the conjugated forms are one word long. There are also compound (compuesto) tenses in the Spanish language, where each conjugated form consists of two words.

The basis for this conjugation is an irregular stem dir, but all the endings stay the same as in the regular conjugation

Use the irregular stem dir in each person

Next, add to this irregular stem the endings specific to each person
In this tense we use the exact same endings in each of the three conjugation groups -ar, -er, -ir. Check out the image showing all the endings. Notice both the colors and shapes of the letters.   • yo diré
Similarly add the regular ending -ás for the second person singular in order to get dirás:
  • tú dirás

Image of -á And again add the regular ending for the third person singular in order to get dirá:
  • él dirá
  • ella dirá
  • usted dirá
Once more add the regular ending -emos for the first person plural in order to get diremos:
  • nosotros diremos
  • nosotras diremos

  • vosotros diréis
  • vosotras diréis
As before add the regular ending -án for the third person plural in order to get dirán:
  • ellos dirán
  • ellas dirán
  • ustedes dirán
