In this conjugation lesson we are going to learn how to conjugate the verb pasar in the Condicional tense of the Indicativo mood. It means we will see step by step how to create and translate forms of each grammatical person.

How to translate Condicional to English

Notice that the English phrases provided below next to each conjugation are not direct translations from Spanish to English. They are usually the closest general equivalents. The example differences are:

• In Spanish conjugation, there is the form usted in the third person singular. But this person does not translate to the English third person singular. It translates to the so called formal you and uses the inflected form which is most often represented as he/she/it in English conjugation charts.
• Similar situation happens in the third person plural, where ustedes translates to the English plural formal you but uses the form which corresponds to the they form in English.
• Tenses are used differently in Spanish and English, so the actual translation should always take into account the context and focus on translating the meaning, not just words.
• In both languages each verb may have multiple meanings and not every meaning translates directly to the other language. Here also, the context and focusing on the particular meaning helps to create the most accurate translation.

Step by step instructions

Condicional belongs to the simple tenses group, which means that all of its inflected forms are one word long. There are also compound (compuesto) tenses in the Spanish language, where each conjugated verb form consists of two words.The verb pasar has a completely regular conjugation in the Condicional tense of the Indicativo mood. It means that this verb just follows the basic rules for its group (-ar) without any exceptions. The basis for this conjugation is the infinitive of this verb, so it’s really simple to create, and only a few exceptions exist.Use the infinitive pasar in each person. Next, add to the infinitive the endings specific to each person. In this tense we use the exact same endings in each of the three conjugation groups -ar, -er, -ir. Check out the image showing all the endings. Notice both the colors and shapes of the letters. It will help you find patterns and make it easier to remember these endings. Add the regular ending -ía for the first person singular to create pasaría:

• yo pasaría – I would pass

And once more add the regular ending -ías for the second person singular to create pasarías:

• tú pasarías – you would pass

And again add the regular ending -ía for the third person singular to create pasaría:

• él pasaría – he would pass
• ella pasaría – she would pass
• usted pasaría – (formal) you would pass

And exactly as previously add the regular ending -íamos for the first person plural to create pasaríamos:

• nosotros pasaríamos – we would pass
• nosotras pasaríamos – (feminine) we would pass

And similarly add the regular ending -íais for the second person plural to create pasaríais:

• vosotros pasaríais – (plural) you would pass
• vosotras pasaríais – (feminine, plural) you would pass

Also as in the previous case add the regular ending -ían for the third person plural to create pasarían:

• ellos pasarían – they would pass
• ellas pasarían – (feminine) they would pass
• ustedes pasarían – (formal, plural) you would pass

This is it! The conjugation is now complete. The final result looks as follows:

yo	pasaría	I would pass
tú	pasarías	you would pass
él/ella/usted	pasaría	he/she/it would pass
nosotros/nosotras	pasaríamos	we would pass
vosotros/vosotras	pasaríais	you would pass
ellos/ellas/ustedes	pasarían	they would pass
